Flip… fold… “just because you can doesn’t mean you should” comes to mind. It’s a solution looking for a problem. Right now it’s an OEMs way of differentiating in a very fragmented and busy Android landscape. I’m guessing Apple will join in when they can offer a screen that isn’t damaged by a fingernail, an IP68 waterproof and dust rating, and an OS that looks like it’s intentional and fit-for-purpose. Revisit this around 2025 or so.

I use galaxy note phones for productivity reasons. As a photographer I use the S – pen a lot writing things down like names of ppl i shoot, thoughts, checklists etc. There are a lot of moments that photos from the camera go to the Lightroom mobile for quick edit if not directly to cloud/ftp server of my photo agency. There are also moments that I use Note for YT while travelling. IMO A fold with the aspect ratio of a regular phone and an embeded stylus is the absolute go-to productivity solution for people that sometimes need the extra screen and sometimes they really don't and I would be more than happy to pay the premium for it as long it makes my life easier.

4mp indisplay camera is for office meeting and for online classes only… Not for take selfies. 🤣🤣
Main selfie camera is 10mp front camera. 🙏🏻

Was having our morning tea. TV was on, YT was open and this new video was there. So of course I played it. My mom was also watching, she don't understand much(of course) in this techi things. After talking some time Marquees came to Z Fold he took and opened to show the bigger display. And my Mom was like "whoa", like that's what happening in the smartphone world. Of course she don't need to keep updated with the newest of this things. I replayed that part for her. It was normal to me, even when first folding phone arrived I was awestruck but knew the technology will go there, not the same case with my mom. She never saw this coming, tbh! That made me respect this new crazy tech even more and thank you @MKBHD for bringing this things to us!

Very appropriate title! The fold blew me away when I tried one in person. Upgraded from a OP 7T to my first samsung device & "flagship" ever an S22 Ultra. Can't wait for it to arrive!

When any product tries to do two things, it does both worse. Like the shampoo that's also a conditioner. There are better phones than these and better small tablets with none of the drawbacks, like size, awkwardness, cost, social rejection and learning curve. The only advantage to a folding phone is it gets smaller. I loved my Razr, it would disappear in my pants pocket.

I had a fold 3 for a year. Just switched to a "normal" one now. Loving it. The fold 3 was cool but way too bulky and the inner screen was so fragile. many apps didn't work right on smaller than normal outside screen nor the bigger than normal inner screen. I had a case from day one. Didn't even peal the plastic off the sides. It had no scratches at all. Never dropped once. Still, the screen cracked in the crease. Was a free replacement though but still.

With the flip form factor, you don't necessarily have to fold it if you don't want to. Granted that defeats the purpose, but there's still the option to use it as a regular smartphone.

My dream is to have a phone just like the one showed in the movie "Her". It was almost like samsung flip, but thinner and lighter. I will buy such a phone if it comes up.

Flip is a more useable option for me .
