Just... imagine
Okay, so Sony has known something called the PlayStation Portal. This is a portable gaming handheld with an 8-inch screen and dual sense controllers with all the same haptics as a normal controller. So you can experience PS5 games anywhere you go. And it's only 199 which seems pretty sweet.
But then the thing is, the more I look into it, the worse it gets. First of all, it is a remote player accessory so there's no local processing happening. It's not a console so PS5 has to be on and connected to the internet to do all the work. All right.
Fine, but worst of all by far is this thing doesn't have Bluetooth. So the only way to use wireless headphones officially is to use some PlayStation link compatible headset like the new 200 PlayStation Pulse Explorer earbuds. That might be the most outwardly anti-consumer feature in a new Gadget I've seen in a long time. That's like imagine if the new iPhone comes out and there's no Bluetooth this year and there's no headphone jack.
So in order to use headphones, there's a new Apple wireless audio protocol that only works with airpods. Even for Apple, that would be crazy Tim Don't get any ideas.
This guy is the biggest sell out of the tech review youtubers
It’s got a headphone jack at the bottom
Well said. generic tablet would do even better than this STHUPID PS PORTAL that has no GPU CPU RAM SYSTEM STORAGE
Well, now we know who’s idea it was for the next iPhone to with hold audio🙄🙄. Why would you say thaaaaat😩
How about you just use your tablet with a bigger and better screen, and it will connect to your PS4 or PS5 controller. I think the app is share play, works great.
Same goes for the PS5 for earphones.
Remember how great the PSP was? How did Dony not just make this an improved version of that?
$ony
Let Nintendo Switch take it from here.
Bluetooth not being support is not surprising and it's not anti consumer with something like this. Bluetooth is a terrible standard for anything that requires low latency responsiveness. Nintendo added Bluetooth support to the switch and latency is just about unusable for gaming. This is why you never see Bluetooth as a feature for musical gear either, the delay Bluetooth introduces makes things unusable. It's not an issue with the device, it's an issue with the Bluetooth standard. If there was no headphone jack on the portal I would agree, but it does have a one.
You ever use Bluetooth headphones on a cell phone and play a game with them? It's latency hell. Sony is probably just trying to avoid everyone dealing with that. You'd all be complaining about the latency. They're probably using some specific hardware to prevent this from being an issue. You're gonna be staring at it anyway, just use some wired headphones. Wired headphones are always more stable and easier to deal with.
STEAM DECKKKKK <
The device was only made to have a Cloud Device with the almighty haptic feedback that Sony tries to use to justify overpricing the system and charging $10 upgrades. It pisses me off they are taking a great feature and making me hate it.
