not an engineer or anyone who has expertise on these stuff but i hope they dont just go full wireless bcos imo wired will always be more reliable and more efficient than wireless

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Avinash V says:

Law should clearly specify that the devices should have wired and wireless chargers. There's clearly energy loss in wireless charging.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars WorldTravel1518 says:

If the iPhone goes portless, it will only prove that Apple wants to destroy the environment. Wireless charging is inefficient and needs to be outlawed if we want to be able to live on this planet for another generation.

Portless iPhone does not work with wired CarPlay.

Apple: fck removes charging port to wireless charging…now lemee see who TF asks anything?

Personally, it's good and bad. Good in the sense that it gives a standard to help cut the blubber through the already confusing world of tech, but the bad part is that A) it makes outdated tech even harder to work with and B) encourages fewer innovations in other port types old and new

do you mind not giving them these ideas

MagSafe is a thing yes for sure, but one cable for everything is all I need, even for an apple user standpoint, macbook, ipad are already use type C, so the only reason I can take from iphone resist the idea is that lightning certified acc thingy.

Apple carplay will be the casualty of going portless.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars BlueKnight87 says:

The irony is that when apple first cried foul on the bill, I immediately felt a sense of deja vu rising from around 2012. Anyone remember why?

I really hate Lightning cables. It's always such a hassle to just find an USB port that it works with without going "the device you jus connected is broken. go fix" until you find that one magical USB port and Lightning cable combination that it works with for some reason. All just to transfer some pictures and music. If they somehow implement data transfer via the magsafe pug, that's fine with me. If they add a new kind of wired port that just can't recharge the phone that seems to comply with that law text as well (at least the section read here) but if there's absolutely no way of transferring files other than emailing them to myself or some other bullshit workaround like that, I'm back to Android in an instant.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Benjamin Mhango says:

The mag-safe option can be more lucrative for Apple too, allowing them to implement the MFI policy for third party developers to make hardware that works seamlessly with Mag-safe, making the loss of the lightning port inconsequential to them

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars L C says:

MagSafe donā€™t exactly allow us to use the device while itā€™s charging in bed. Yes, it is not advised to do so, but we have the option. Not just that but cable charging is more efficient, and of course MagSafe donā€™t solve slow transfer speed of lightning. Thereā€™s nothing ā€œtechnologically advanceā€ with MagSafe only, not really. I can see much better waterproofness, and being allowed to charge devices of, of your iPhone and iPad, thatā€™s it. Unless you can charge anywhere by having the phone close to a charging area, MagSafe wonā€™t be impressing me anytime soon, and what I described is extremely difficult, to the level of science fiction to pull off safely and inefficiently.
