Just bought one of these in 2022, second hand and after trying with different 4k monitors this is the one for Mac if you don't want to spend much money on an apple made display still this is the best option for a decent extra display for your macbook

With hesitation because of comments about build quality for the price, the plastic, the bezels, etc, I bought two of these not sure if I would like them. Answer? Hell yes. Went from regular office style dual 22” dell monitors to these and it has been transformative for me.
First of all, the plastic does look premium (for plastic). None of that shiny junk. It’s matte black. Secondly, when you stick 2 huge monitors in your face, you will not notice the top and bottom bezels at all in use. Would be nice for the side bezels to be smaller but honestly it is not an issue at all for me because nobody spans a single app across two screens like that so size of bezels is something really nit picky to focus on.
The panels themselves are glorious. Having a glass screen is so much nicer than the typical matte display. The quality of the text and images is outstanding and the real-estate has made working so much easier because i can have so much on-screen at once without switching back and forth. It’s just beautiful to look at.
I was debating waiting for the rumoured new displays from apple but who knows if/when they will come so I finally bit the bullet and am very satisfied. Just waiting on dual monitor arms now to get them floating and reclaim my limited desk space.

Great review – I've been using a 2K Apple Thunderbolt Display for photo (Affinity Photo) and video editing (DaVinci Resolve) for a couple years with my 2018 6-core MacBook Pro.
I'd like to be able to make use of the single USB-C cable to charge my MacBook Pro – even while rendering video. I also need to have 2 or 3 documents open on-screen at the same time, when striating contracts etc. What 27-inch (or larger) monitor would you recommend that would work for me?
