I’ll probably just upgrade once every five years
Going from a 7+ to a 14Pro was a huge shock for me
There was a time when making things last was cool, phones will probably be the same way soon

Another Milestone would be to ged a software that in itself does not have to be replaced after a few years of work.

Technology wise we see plateau. I have Huawei mate 20 pro. And many times check my friends new phones year after year . And they are functionally the same. Play all game, fast net 4g equal to home WiFi ( 5G useless ) .All top phone have main camera with nice composite photography, secondary ultra wide and telephoto – zoom camera. Exactly the same like mine Mate 20pro from2018/19. The photography are the SAME , little difference in video but 2018 need good light 2021 too.
There is no logic what so ever to change my Mate20.

I am still on my LG G6+ from 2017 ( 1440P 18:9 , 128gb internal , memory card slot , Quad Dac )
Maybe Google Pixel 6 Pro/XL will change my mind . . .
