I got them all set up and listened to one song... and never looked back. I don't think I could go back to a 2.1 system ever. Studio monitors FTW.

i was asking about the honey nut Cheerios but ok
+Jadin Scarselli studio monitors vary in their sound. the thing that sets them apart from normal speakers is that they don't distort even at high volume. Yes they are self amped but they don't always sound amazing.
+Jadin Scarselli. Studio monitors are usually self powered, meaning they have an amplifier in each monitor, sometimes 2 (one for the woofer and one for the tweeter). Plus the sound coming out of them is usually the same as in recording studios, (flat EQ or frequency response) whereas speakers "Color" the sound and give it more brightness. Plus with monitors you usually have to sit right near them to hear (hence the name "nearfield monitors) them while with regular speakers you don't necessarily have to be near them to hear them. Oh and with most speakers you need a separate amp or receiver to drive them.
+Jadin Scarselli These are for studio purposes, there's a clue in the name, used for accuracy and detail, a good punchy bass and easy to use for people who like to record music or edit videos/music covers etc..
