lolol, putting a 4k screen on an IPS display is just…a waste lol
6 years later and everyone still doesn't have 4k displays… goes to show Sony are so far ahead of the game it's insane.

2022 here, still the only manufactur with 4k display, when apple or samsung finally make one in the future and samsung/apple fanboy goes "cant go below 4k anymore" sony user will remember this video for sure

I have this phone, bought as a "recreational" device as it was new old stock, so it's dirt, dirt cheap. I wanted to know how the 4K looks, and yeah, can only properly use it on the native "Album" and "Videos" app, other than that, useless. YouTube, even VLC. I had several 4K contents played through VLC, it recognizes the screen as a 1080p display so when you tap the display zooming thing and in "Center", it zooms 4 times bigger. Also as the YouTube app has been given higher-than-actual-display resolution playback lately, I was curious if it will display 4K content as it is, and.. idk. I don't think it does. My other 1080p phone has some noticeable difference when streaming 1440p, the same cannot be said with the Z5P.
It's a fun device to have though as you can brag to your friend you have a 4K screen phone.
Sony still the only company giving you 4k displays on smartphones. It's 5 years on.
2021 update- Sony's still the only one making 4k smartphones and xperia 1 m3 will have a 4k 120hz oled panel and some amazing camera capabilities.
