If you haven’t already, you should check out Blu (Bold Like Us) phones. They range from flagships to budgets and they even have feature phones and flip phones.
My phone price is 315 $ & it have
Display=Brilliant display, I mean it have 10-bit amoled, and it also support dolby vision. Display is the main highlight of my phone for me.
Design= design of this phone is really good, glass body, with mate texture in it, and weight approx 160(158 to be precise). I really love the design especially cuz it's lightweight. When I got it newly I've to check it that, is it still in my pocket or not, cuz you just can't feel anything.
Camera = I would say camera is pretty avg, I can record videos in 4k, it have baisc stuff like director mode, hell lots filter, very cool slowmo. But I really like it's macro camera, it's macro camera can compete with high end premium phone, also have movies effect ,which is cool, time lapse, also pretty nice.
Software = ys, it have some Blotware , but I don't think it's should come in underwhelming aspects, cuz if you buying 300$ phone, and you're getting brilliant display with slick design and nice camera, you have to bear with some Blotware which you can just uninstall all in 3 min.
This is it, I don't know what processor it have but I didn't feel any lag in any type of usage, work perfectly in 90 hz.

Maybe the higher end phones don't cost much more its just they are priced higher because they are the "better" phone. Does a base honda civic and a loaded civic actually cost 10,000+ more. Doubt it

hardware/design: 5 I need face unlock, a great fingerprint reader, and wireless charging. Extremely good wifi is nice too. Also waterproof and can survive a drop.
software : 1 Nothing wrong with stock android.
marketing : 1 Oneplus has no marketing at all and does fine.

My $17 build
Screen: $3 (average these days are 1080p minimum and 60Hz, def not gonna turn heads but isn’t gonna make people frown either)
Hardware: $3 (metal frame and maybe the sandstone back like oneplus use to do, still feels amazing and not cheap at all)
Specs: $3 doesn’t need a snapdragon 800 series if software is stock and free of useless clutter. Which leads to…
Software: $1. (Assuming we’re obviously building an android phone.) Hear me out, stock android runs amazing and you don’t have to touch anything. Easy choice imo. Concerning regarding updates yea but if it’s stock and boot loader unlocked you can easily add a custom rom when it’s no longer supported for further improvement.
Battery: $3 (average at the best but let’s be honest cheaper socs aren’t as powerful and therefore not as power hungry and if the software is stock and the screen is average it’ll probably always translate to better than expected battery life)
Camera: 3$ (can be circumvented somewhat if software is stock and at least using a decent sensor, also using Gcam)
Marketing: 1$ (this was tough but if it’s overall great and the right people get their hands on it, they’ll talk about it and it’ll market itself to an extent)
The central theme around this is a mix of DIY stuff and self tinkering to improve the experience. Technically this is the apple route getting the most out of the stuff you choose to put in.
I'll spend more on specs,software and battery cause I don't take pictures on my phone and hardware doesn't matter to me cause I case my phone anyway
I won't take good photos/videos in $300 phone. The end, move on!
